It Doesn’t Have to be this Hard
For the latest round of Art Worlds, articles written by artists for artists, Artquest has commissioned Victoria Gray, Karl Kolley and Emily Roderick to explore what success looks like to them. These articles draw on a range of experiences, sharing knowledge and advice that may support artists in developing their own understanding of success in the arts.
Karl Kolley’s article discusses how his day starts with labouring to earn money to survive, which contrasts with the end of the day, when the time is his to make art. He talks about small acts of resistance and how, for him, success is measured by endurance rather than competition.
