You have to start somewhere.

Photo of an estuary with the tide right out. The horizon is two thirds up from the bottom. The colours are very subdued, grey in the foreground where is the mud and a very pale pink for the empty sky. On the horizon is a white ship lit a brilliant silver in what appears to to be the rising sun. There are zig-zag strips of white water in the foreground getting smaller into the distance..

Gypsy Bridge and Thames Estuary

Black pen and ink drawing on white paper. There is a black bridge like shape in the centre of the bottom of the drawing, positioned on a diagonal rising from left to right. the inking of the bridge is bold and dark black with vertical streaks which might be railings. Around and under the bridge are other dark marks, lines that could be walls. The top two thirds of the paper is mainly covered in a series of light abstract marks and smudges with a large circular area in the middle left mainly white paper as if the sun is reflected on the water. There is a vague horizon near the top of the drawing wth a few marks that might be buildings.

Cut wood inked

Photo of a rectangle of plywood cut abstractly, perhaps suggesting rough water, and inked with highlights of blue black, green and white with parts of the plywood left uninked.

Cutting wood to print

Photo of a person cutting thin plywood with hand held shears. The hand holding the wood is in the top left corner with only the thumb on top of the wood visible. The steel blades of the shears, with a small part of the blue handle, are in the bottom of the image and are imbedded in the wood in mid-cut; the rest of the image shows the wood with about a dozen cuts already made. The edges of the cuts are very jagged.

Estuary

Print, black ink on white paper. Black, wave like, shapes with lines of white running through, as if channels. Rectangle shape, landscape format. A dark, brooding mood.
