Peer-to-peer and one-to-one advice and information from Artquest staff, specialist advisors, and other artists.

Artists tell us that most of the advice they get comes from their peers. A key part of getting good advice is expanding your professional network. Advice and networks go hand in hand.

Artquest gives advice to artists through a number of projects. We refer artists to different strands depending on the kind of advice and length of support they need. Not sure what you need? Start by asking us a question.

You can get free professional advice from Artquest:

  • artquest.org.uk: our website, open for free to artists anywhere in the world.
  • Ask us anything: artists in England can message us, including about legal issues. Our artist staff get back to you in five working days.
  • Artquest Exchange: peer-to-peer online networks and advice through our free professional network. Open to artists anywhere in the world.
  • Artquest One to One: a free hour-long advice session with an artist career specialist. Available to any artist in London. 28 sessions available every month, except August and December.
  • Artquest Crits: general feedback on your work in small online groups. These one-off groups are led by an artist career specialist. Includes tips on how to run an online or offline peer group session.
  • Artquest Salon: feedback on your work with artists working around similar themes. Artist-driven small groups with a regular membership, meeting online three times over a year. Current groups focus on painting and activism in art. Open to artists who have attended an Artquest Crit.

To hear when one to one session are available and new groups are being set up, sign up to our mailing list.

Artquest works with artists at all stages in their career. Our projects are open to all professional visual artists. Many of the artists using our services have been practicing for over 10 years, and are mostly over 35 years old.

Artists of all ages and levels of experience use Artquest. We work with:

  • new graduates
  • artists who did not go to art school / self-taught artists
  • artists at all stages in their careers and of all ages

Many of our projects are aimed at artists later in their careers. New graduates can access services from a range of different organisations and in many cases from the university or college they graduated from.
