‘Layers 1’

Acrylic collage on 30H x 20W cm watercolour paper.  The watercolour paper is painted with a flat mid-dark tone green.  Collages on top is a torn burn orange thin paper that has paler green sponge painted rosettes.  The paoer has bee torn at the right hand side along its length so that 1.5-2cm of the background colour shows.  The top and bottom are cut straight and show the same amount of border.  To the bottom right is a torn pale orange paper is 17cm high x 10cm width and slopes at the top downwards the right hand edge by 2cm.  On top of this is a shaped and creased torn shape in pale blue.  This goes over the left hand edge of the pale orange a little but stays within the rest of the orange shape by roughly 2cms.

‘Forms in the landscape’

Acrylic painted background in green and blue on watercolour paper, 30 cm Height by 20 cm Width.  Collaged on this are three forms, roughly centred across the paper. Left to right the first is a blue cut oblong placed 1cm in from the edge.  It has a height of 8.7 cm and width of 7 cm.  The second form is a torn diamond shape in pale pink and lemon and is 2cm from the top of the paper. It slightly overlaps the blue form at both their centres and has a crinkled texture.   It has a height of 23cm and width of 6cm at its centre.   Touching this at its centre point is the third form which is 6.5 cm from the top edge of the paper.  The top edge of the form is cut as is the right hand edge which is cut flush with the base paper. The left hand edge which touches the second form is torn as is the bottom edge.  The cut top edge is angled to the left for 6cm.   The size is 17 cm Height by 5.5 cm Width at its largest point.  On top and inside the perimeter of this form is a darker pink torn shape, slightly angled to the left.  Its size is 12 cm Height by  5 cm Width.  There is a 4 cm band of darker green cut collage that goes edge to edge across the base paper and is 5 cm from the bottom edge.  Forms 2 and 3 rest on this green band.  Over lapping and underneath the band is a textured red shape which centred, torn on 3 sides and cut to the bottom edge of the base. It has a 7.5 cm Height and 10 cm Width and is slanted to the left.

‘Walking in the forest’

Acrylic paint on watercolour paper. 30cm Height by 20cm Width.  Abstract layered brush marks. Top 18cm has red tree like structure on top of light and dark green brush marks going horizontally and at an upwards angle across the page.  Under this are larger broken brush marks in a darker greeny blue with two unbroken ones across this section at the top and bottom.

Blue mist

20 cm Height by 30 cm Width.  Green and red brush marks across Centre of paper.  The paper has been brushed over in pale blue, then from 13cm a block of pale green has been brushed over.

In the forest

Landscape format 30 Width x 20 Height.  13 xm section is mainly layered in pinky red with se one 17cm section over layered with small amount of orange, red and green covering.

Two columns

Height 10cm by 15.5cm Width.  Acrylic painted background in pale orange with two acrylic painted collaged columns in red and green/  Collaged pale green torn paper shape jointing them together with a 1cm orange textured across them both.

Stack

The work is 18cm Height by 1 cm Width.  It is acrylic painted collage with two columns, top to bottom.  These columns are lightly painted in pale ochre with a pale green bottom third. In the second third of the first column is a square cut collage.  This rests on a pale green 1cm horizontal band and has touches of blue, pale lemon, pale lilac and pink brush marks.  The second column has a pale ochre band sited just below the first column and no square.  To the top of the work, is an orange strip, the bottom is torn across.  It starts with a depth of 1cm on the left and slopes down to 4cm on the right hand side.

‘How the land lies’

Collage on wooden panel, 10cm Height x 7cm Width.  Pale orange strip across the top at a depth of 3cm.  Across this to the left and over half way across is a torn yellow/ochre collage that has speckles of green and red.  On top of this is a torn green and lemon paper, about  2cm in from the left across to the right edge.  A small torn paper is at the top of this to around 4cm depth at its largest point.

‘Columns’

Height 18 cm by 13 cm.  Acrylic painted collage on lemon painted canvas panel.  Three paper column strips.  Left to right; first column, top to bottom, is 3cm wide, textured and a pale pinky beige.  There is then a gap of 4 mm to show the lemon background.  The second column is a 4.5 cm pale green that stops 2 cm from the bottom to show the lemon.  On top of this is a small, 4 cm by 2.5 cm textured paper in a mid tone rust colour.  There is then a lemon background colour of 1.5 cm.  In effect the lemon background surrounds the green column in a U shape.  The third column is the same rust colour paper as in the second column but is 4 cm and goes top to bottom.  4.5cm up on this column are 8 punched holes that show the lemon background.

Column on red on blue square

Turquoise acrylic painted Mount board square, 12.5 cm with a red textured torn collage covering three quarters of the board.  It covers up to the bottom and right hand edge but does not reach the top or left hand edges.  On top of this is a beige, lemony column with turned up bottom to 1 cm.  The column if off Centre and does not quite reach the top or bottom of the square.  It is only glued down half way.

Cool red painted wooden panel, size 16 x 11 cm.  Cut angled turquoise shape collaged on top with an ochre and green column slanted to the left.

Falling Column 2

Acrylic collage, size 14.5 Height by 11 cm.  Pale khaki green background with a pale ochre column, just off centre to the left.  On top and within the column is a second column in pale textured burnt orange.  It is angled to the right and has a torn 1 cm  horizontal pale green collaged piece of paper near the base.

Wooden panel 16 by 11 cm, acrylic painted in pale green with torn blue collage shape on top of which is a pale vertical torn pale shape to the left and a lemon and green cut column to the right.  To the far right is a vertical 1cm cut column in a mid orange.  There is a small oblong terracotta cut shape joining the first two vertical shapes and on top of this is a much paler cut square.

Soft Focus

Collaged acrylic painted papers on watercolour paper, size 17.5 cm by 21cm.  It comprises three top to bottom cut columns.  The first column has a width of 6cm as is a textured paper; painted in very pale lemon and red.  The second is 1 cm wide and a pale orange.  The third is 14 cm wide and has discernible brush marks in a dull yellow and brown.

Keeping it all together

Acrylic painted collage, size  20 by 15 cm.  Basically it comprised three columns with a triangle of green and small torn pale green piece on top.  First column is a torn textured rust colour with a green pattern.  Second column over lapping is a solid rust colour and third column is solid ochre

Acrylic painted collage, 21 cm Height by 17 cm Width. Three collaged pieces.  The left hand one is torn.  It is 4 cm wide at the top, expanding to 5.5 cm at the bottom and is ochre, dark green and mustard coloured.  The piece joined to this has a torn edge where it meets but is flush with the other three edges  It is mid to dark red with darker brush marks.  On top of this piece and 5 cm down from the top edge is a cut column. It is 15.5 cm Height by 8.5 cm Width.  It is 1 cm in from the right edge and 5 mm up from the bottom.  It is mustard in colour with underlying brush marks of red and has a small red mark to the bottom left and right.

Acrylic on watercolour paper. Size 20 cm Height x 15.5 cm Width. Painted in two columns.  The one on the left is 5cm wide in a dark green, with lemon splashing over and the second is under painted in lemon with green and red brush marks. The paint was sponged off just before it dried to expose the lemon.

Landscape

Acrylic painted paper on wooden board.  Size 16 cm Height - 11 cm Width.  Primarily ochre and green splashy type background with a 10 cm long by 1 cm wide strip of similar but slightly darker 2.5 cm in from the left.  Underneath this,  just in from the left is a cut green oblong, 6cm wide going to the bottom edge.  On top of this, and going to the far right of the oblong is a 2cm wide by 5cm high cut strip from the background.

Floating

Acrylic painting with acrylic collage on wooden panel.  Size 16 cm x 11 cm.  Multi coloured painted panel with two torn collage pieces across the centre, ‘floating’ upwards.  They are grey with splashes of yellow and red.

Horizontal colour bands

Acrylic painted collaged paper.  Size 15.5 cm Height by 13 cm Width.  Horizontal cut bands of colour.  From the top down there is a 1cm band of pale orange; 5.5 cm band of mid orange with a few tiny marks in green; a 2cm band of darker orange with a thin ochre line at the top; a 4.5 cm band of ochre; a 5mm band of darker orange and a 2.5 cm band of pale orange

Untitled

Acrylic on paper, collaged.  Size 18 cm by 13 cm.  Dull red painted paper on left hand side.  Scored into with end of a brush to expose green paint underneath.  Abutting this, almost half way is a flat painted sage green paper.  On top of the sage green is an ochre and dull red oblong, 1cm in and 4.5 cm down from the top.  The oblong is 5cm High by 6 cm wide and has a serrated top edge.  The ochre takes up roughly two thirds of the oblong and the dull red takes up the final third.

Columns, soft focus

Acrylic painted paper collage.  Size 19 cm by 12 cm.  Three textured columns in dull pink and grey on a dull pale orange background.  The first two are painted on the same paper with the first one measuring 2.5 cm and the second 4.5 cm. The paper is glued 1cm in so that the dull orange background shows like a column.  The first pink column has been scored into in short downward wavy strokes and is paler than the next one which has larger textured downward strokes too.  Next is 1.5 cm of the dull orange background with the end column pale with a thin darker pink downward line at the beginning.  This has straighter downward strokes and is smoother.
