#1 the other side of the valley 1.2.26

The work for today consists of two separate things. One is a green sculpture made from paper which is has been pinched and made to curve and bend in certain places and is stuck on a wall; it has also been ripped and glued together; you can see the lines on the paper which suggest the texture of what it is made from, these lines go diagonally and there are also creases here and there as well as shadows where the light doesn't fall. Then there is a postcard which is landscape orientation and seems to show a series of arching columns and a path on top of which the artist has stuck two pieces of masking tape one underneath the other parallel to each other with the writing '# one the other side of the valley' on the first bit of tape and 'one. Two. twenty-six' which is the day that the Work was made. Then there is a picture of the back of that postcard which has a website for a hostel in Prague in the top left corner, a QR code in the bottom right, and which has the following text written in black sharpie by the artist: 'cover over meaning, it is about exertion, about doing the impossible, it is about seeing what the card can do, it is not about what it looks, it is about 'does', what are your hidden rules?, I don't want it to be over, reminds me of clay'. each phrase is separated by a black line.

absurdity of the rule impossibility of painting, kind of. takes away/ adds on /reveals. thwarted. directionality of the brushstroke. _______ ______________| no.2 candy 2.2.26 studio has to be a productive laboratory of ideas, not just a place to make / escape. _____________ _______| painting white over is a process with a start + end. ___________ __________| not about if it's sold/what other people think. / who cares. expectation | no big ideas _______________________ messy - maybe i am using the prompt. is that ok? __________________________ love paint / pursue even through other thoughts _______________ _____________| this is performative! ____________________________ could have done this exactly as i did the other. ___________________________
