The COAL Prize 2026 is dedicated to the theme of night. Artists are invited to defend the night as a common good, a major ecological issue for the regeneration of life, a refuge, a diversity of languages to be celebrated, a right to rest and to darkness. Every year, ten projects are shortlisted by a committee of professionals following the entries received from the international open call. The winner of the COAL Prize will be awarded 12,000 euros and a creative residency. In addition to this there are prizes for the Jury’s Special Prize, the Ateliers Médicis award and the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/ Paris mention.
