As BALTIC approaches its twentieth year, they have announced a new residency opportunity supporting an artist based in the UK to undertake a long-term residency engaging with BALTIC Archive during 2021–22. The residency is open to artists working in the visual arts who have an interest in exploring archives, or archiving as a methodology, and would benefit from having the time and space to research and develop their practice through close engagement with an institutional archive. The residency is supported with a £5,000 fee and £2,000 travel and accommodation bursary, with access to BALTIC’s Artist’s Studio for a six-month period, and the Archive and Library onsite. The timeframe of the residency is flexible, and to be agreed depending on the research proposal and individual circumstances. Artists must be based in the UK and not in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programmes.
