A project to review the Pitt Rivers Museum‘s use of language in display cases and websites. It extends work on temporary exhibitions, research, and events, into the permanent galleries. Aims to address language that is outdated, offensive, inappropriate or exclusionary. The project will trial ways of adapting overly euphemistic or one-sided (Eurocentric) text in the museum and online. The project will not to destroy any archives, but activate them to talk about the problems of racialised stereotypes and other current systemic colonial legacies.
