Created by Inc Arts, the #BAMEover statement was created from a survey completed by over 1,000 people on use of the term BAME in arts, culture and media. The Statement outlines rules for engagement and terms of reference for referring to global majority people. Inc Arts has used it to lobby the UK government to remove BAME from statements and media statistics. In March 2021, the government announced that it would no longer be using the term. Useful for arts organisations to consider in diversity and inclusion work.
