Changes to Artquest Exchange membership

Artquest Exchange has always been an online community for professional visual artists.

Following feedback from a survey of our members and newsletter subscribers, we have clarified what we mean by both “professional” and “visual artist”.

We now ask that you meet our definition of a visual artist and satisfy 3 out of 11 professional criteria to join Artquest Exchange. These criteria are based on the guidelines used by Artists’ Union England for their own membership, and you may have met them at any point in your career.

The criteria, along with some additional questions, have been added to both the Artquest Exchange registration form and existing member profile forms.

Complete your profile

We are asking all current members to update their profiles with this new information. To do this, simply

  • Edit your profile
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page
  • Complete the new questions under “Additional Information”
  • Hit the “Update” button to save your responses

Update to profile retention policy

To help keep the Artquest Exchange community active and up to date, we will begin removing profiles that have been inactive for more than 18 months.

If you have not logged in for the past 18 months and you would like to keep your profile, please log in by Monday 13 July to avoid deletion.

Artquest Exchange Groups

We are launching Artquest Exchange Groups—dedicated online forums where artists with shared interests, practices, or needs can connect, communicate, and support one another.

We are inviting members to take part in this testing phase. Propose your own group around shared interests or concerns.

Artquest Exchange online talks programme

We will also be launching a programme of free online talks exclusively for Artquest Exchange members. These sessions will cover key topics for developing artists’ careers, including:

  • Building relationships with galleries
  • Finding and applying for opportunities
  • Pricing and selling your work
  • Promotion
  • Peer mentoring groups
  • Artist residencies

Let us know your preferred topics and times here.
